I recently purchased the Pioneer HTP-2920 Home Theater System with an excellent receiver and it’s six speakers. They come as a set and do not include a DVD player which I did not need as I have a Panasonic Blue Ray player already. The system costs between $200 and $320 on line, Amazon, eBay, or directly from Pioneer who has, like Amazon, extremely fast shipping and excellent customer service. The best prices are the questionable “open box” items on eBay, I elected to get a brand new system direct from Pioneer for $209 plus 99 cents shipping. Returns can be made if you are not satisfied for any reason. I thought about sending mine back as it does not have HDMI hook ups and Pioneer authorized my return with no problem but I am very glad I did not send it back.
Set up was well explained in the “quick set up” guides which are also available on line at: pioneerelectronics.com. Each speaker and wire is color coded for fool proof set up. The speakers include
plenty of wire length for a mid-sized room, wire gauge could be stouter but worked just fine. There were plenty of hook ups in the back and in front for accessories rivaling much more expensive receivers. There are three
audio inputs and a plug in the front that can be used for iPods. The receiver has 840 watts total power which is quite powerful and has six channels. It does not have HDMI hook ups which I was afraid would adversely effect my sound from my Blue Ray DVD player, but that was not the case at all.
The system is a very handsome looking set up with a glossy black receiver, and unobtrusive matching black speakers that matched my Toshiba 42″ HD LCD 1080p TV to the “T”. The sub-woofer has plenty of base and can only be used with this receiver. The other speakers and the receiver can be matched up with other systems and, frankly, the receiver was worth the price of the whole set alone. I have other receivers I paid $300 plus for that are not as nice as this Pioneer receiver is.
It has 30 presets for FM & AM radio stations. It has a large list of different Pioneer, Pro-logic & Dolby DTS sound selections, more than are even needed but can be tried for sound preference for various music types, movies, TV, etc. Sound Retrieval is also available, to restore a bit of data lost in music compression from sub-optimal digital mp3 sources.
The usual speaker distance/channel level custom adjustments are available but a “quick set up” for automatic speaker balancing offering an easy option with one having to select room size and indicate if the front or back speakers are closest. The options for sound manipulation were beyond anything I imagined for a $220 set. Even a display dimmer is included.
The speakers are small so I was expecting the sound to be poor to average but I was surprised to have sound that rivaled that of my Bose sound system that cost nearly
ten times as much! It sounded too good to be true but it was true and terrific and I’m thrilled with its sound and performance. No distortion at high volume. No tin-like sound, sub-woofer provided the right amount of bass that can be adjusted through the receiver. The speakers take up little room and are very easy to wall mount, all you need to do is hang them on a firmly secured wall screw. The small wires have an advantage too, they are hard to notice. So, small speakers and wires do have a plus in a room where you don’t have a lot of room or do not want ugly wires and speakers cluttering things up. It’s a compact system that packs quite a punch!
Go ahead and buy one, you won’t be disappointed and if you are, you can always return it.

Samsung Flat Panel Liquid Crystal Display Television

Great product … extremely sturdy and was very well packed. It comfortably fits my DVR, Xbox 360, PS2 with room for a stack of game cases on the glass shelves. My 37″ tv fits very nicely on top.
Now the problem:
The glass is a rectangle, it does not conform to the shape of the bottom and top pieces. Take a close look at the diagram and you’ll see what I mean. If I had done that, I might have looked at another piece. For the price, the piece is good and now that I’ve built it — it’s worth keeping.

Was a little concerned to purchase this online without seeing it first. Luckily the product images included a picture with dimensions, so I was pretty sure it would work well - it did.
I wanted something that will fit tight in a corner, and would hold a 42″ LCD TV (Philips 42PFL7432D 42″ 1080p LCD HDTV with Ambilight). This does the job well. See User Photo in photo section.
Assembly was easy. The stand is well designed and sturdy. I like the cutout on the bottom as it tends to make the shelf look smaller than it is, letting it disappear from view.
Only reason not to give 5 stars is the price is a little high, even with the good Amazon discount.

It is a very slick looking piece of furniture with its modern lines and color combo. It is especially appealing for a room corner- does not take whole lot of space and its unique U shape has little footprint at the bottom, which conserves space and yet is very stable. The looks rock!

Solid and able to hold a heavy 27″ (CRT) TV with no problems. The (tempered) glass shelves are square, not beveled like the top and base. Unless you’re gifted (or have three hands), you’ll want a helper when it’s time to install the shelves, but aside from that it was easy to assemble.

I have found the Pioneer HTP 2920 to be an excellent home theater system. I have only two complaint. The optical imput only receives stereo and not 5.1 surround sound. The documentation is not in a booklet, but a folded sheet of paper. Except for these two problems, I am very pleased with this product.

I was impressed from the moment I picked up the box from the delivery guy, it actually had some weight to it. Setup the system in about 15 min (very basic)in a 20′x20′ game room and connected my media center and XBOX 360. Turned up the voulume and was again impressed, the sound was very crisp and the bass was powerful enough to feel each explosion and gunshot from the game I was playing (COD4). I didn’t expect that much bass from a non powered sub woofer. Turned on some music (MP3) Metallica and it sounded great, still crisp highs and good bass response with no distortion. Tried some Vivaldi and Too Short, again the sound was great with enough bass to fill the room and loud enough for the wife to come in and tell me to turn it down. I debated getting a 6.1 or 7.1 setup but in reality how many movies support that anyways? none that I have seen even on BRD you get 5.1 unless you have something like DTS-ES Discrete, DTS-ES Matrix. I have had the system for 2 months now and have no complaints, very good quality, great sound and good looks. I never have to turn this up all the way or even close to hurt my ears. The receiver runs HOT so I would recommend using a cabinet fan especially if you are cramming this in a small enclosure. The supplied wires are decent length but if you are installing in a room the size I did you will need longer wire for the back speakers. I highly recommend this system. Hope this helps. Got mine from Infinity Sales.

Excellent system for a good price. I was on a limited budget and I bought this system to hook up to a Samsung BD-P2500 1080p Blu-ray player and a Samsung 1080p HDTV. I am very happy with my purchase. The system sounds great, but is not overpowering. Components are very solid and look good. Setup took about an hour. I had a couple of questions and Pioneer customer service was very helpful.

It’s such a shame that this system is soooooooooo hard to find in retail electronics shops…and what really is a low is that Pioneer has discontinued it…so finding it is more of a chore. Sure it’s great to order online, I’m sure…but I’d rather purchase live and in living color, so to speak, at a shop and just drive it home myself without the waiting and potential mishaps typical delivery can bring.
Bummer!
If you find it, BUY it NOW before it’s too late!
Peace!<-AladdinSane-
